pillow cases complete

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

So, I have this friend that likes clocks. Don’t know why, she just does. She saw some fabric with clocks printed on it and asked me if I could make her some pillow cases. I said  I could- so I did.  I only had enough fabric for three- so I mixed up the cuffs a bit. Two greens and one bright pink- the greens have the pink trim and the pink have the green trim. I use three pillows- I hope she does too. I know four is a better amount to make- but somehow the three are like a set… At least this is what I am telling myself.

On the exersise front… I am still going to curves and enjoying that- and walking when I can. Today I walked to the store for pepsi…. I think that should count for something!

Oh yah…. just about forgot to post the pictures of my wonderful pillow cases…tadummmmm

I have been updated!

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Thanks John! I went to my blog to find it all new and pretty! Good thing I have a son-in-law that takes care of this for me!

So… my adventure this week is pillow cases.  I have a couple of different patterns and one of my friends from work found some fabric she LOVES and wants me to make her a set. I look forward to doing something new- and learning along the way. I think I really like to sew.  Maybe I found a hobbie and I didn’t even know it! LOL

shout out to Sally

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Hey Sally, if you are still reading my blog…. I am back at curves and everytime I go I think of you! Hope you are keeping busy but not so busy you can’t give me a shout back. It would be nice to see you again.

Sally is the friend who got my interested in working out a few years ago. Since then I lost 70 pounds- stopped working out and put some back on, not all of it, but some. So now I am back on the wagon again. Or rather, running next to it. LOL

I feel so much better when I make the effort to work out. It is so much more than a weight loss thing, I just feel happier. I believe I need it for my piece of mind. The last time I went to the Dr. he encouraged me to workout and said curves was a good place- to get back to going on a regular basis. What I like about it is the social part. It helps to have people say hello and to tell me they are glad I am back. I love the smart workout system they have too. I started to use that when I was in Utah with my daughter at a curves there. It makes my work out more effective.

So, back to working out. Thats a good thing.

It looks like it will rain more today, and if that is the case I have a plan….quilting. I want to boarder one that I am working on, but also, I found a pattern to make a bag. I have been thinking about how to make it a bit better. Adding inside pockets-quilting ect.. so I think I will work on those two things today. I will need to run out and pick up so interfacing I think but other than that I should be set for  things to do today.

I was thinking of seeing how hard these bags are to make and if I like them maybe I could sell some. I still dream of having a qult shop- rainy days are always a good day for dreamin.

Also, I won some kind of thing from taking a survey on line a million years ago and got a book in the mail! That was a fun surprise. The title is Becky by Lenore Hart.  It is the story of Tom Sawyer’s sweetheart. It is a cool idea for a book and so far it is a really good story. I love the way I am drawn in and want to “see what happens next” as I am reading. One thing I was worried about was I don’t really remember reading Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn…. whatever- and I thought I would have to have more of a background in that story or this one wouldn’t make sense- but it stands on it’s own so far. Ties that need to be made are clear and yet you don’t feel stupid for not remembering the other story. I am only in the beginning so we will see.

I remember Karla

Monday, June 15th, 2009

For some reason today my sister-in-law Karla has been on my mind. She died in 1992- but there are days when I still want to pick up the phone, say hello and see how she is doing. I think that it has something to do with Mondays. When I was around sixteen I went to live with my brother his wife Karla and their family. I stayed for about nine months. While I lived there I didn’t attend school so I was home with Karla during the day and I learned a lot about her. One thing she ALWAYS did was on Mondays she cleaned their house from top to bottom- pulled out heavy furniture- dusted, vacuumed, polished and and scrubbed anything and everything. I had never seen anyone go through an entire house and clean it like that in one day. It did take the entire day. She told me she liked to do that so for the rest of the week they could just live in it. She would still do laundry during the week- and cook and clean the kitchen, but “the big stuff” would just get done on Mondays. What I liked about that was the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the cleaning day. Today I moved all the stuff in the living room, vacuumed, dusted, changed my sheets, washed floors and that all made me think of Karla. The two things that make me remember her the most are cleaning day Mondays and gigantic hamburgers. We used to go get one at some burger place after we cleaned all day. It is funny the things you remember.

I am going to stop cleaning now and just enjoy the rest of the day- doing laundry and hanging out with the grand-baby and daughter….. life is good.

Oh…. I miss Jonathan today too. I wish he could live close enough to visit sometimes.

Nap time TV

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Things I watch on TV during my Sunday afternoon “nap” (because I really don’t nap I just sorta go mindless)

Animal show where shark is eating a man- in slow motion- how do they reenact that anyway?

Man show where he is eating shark….

Book TV where authors talked about their books- which makes me feel informed and like I want to go buy their book

Antique Road Show… which makes me wonder what antique I would take if I ever went to one….  and I don’t know which I get more pleasure from, the women who spent thousands on a piece of Pre-Columbian art which in reality is a hunk of cement with odd shapes put into it; or the guy who brings in a canteen he found in his attic that is worth $65,000.

Then the traditional Andy Griffith episode.

Something tells me I have napped wayyyyy toooooo longgggg today.  I will say, I have not watched one entire episode of anything.

I think the most entertaining thing has been the occasional changing of the channel. Maybe my mind is less!  Now thats a thought.

weird…

Friday, June 5th, 2009

so last night I was having a dream. I don’t remember much of it- but I do remember being in a room and reaching over to flip on a light switch. (which is weird cuz it wasn’t dark where ever I was)- but just as I reached over to flip the switch on in my dream- Jim coughed in real life. He woke himself up coughing…. when I woke up I actually thought that the light switch in my dream made him cough. SOOOO weird.

But anyway…. I am going to make the yard sale signs today and start to get stuff ready to go out in the yard sale tomorrow. Looks like it will be a nice day for one.

I am still working on my “friends” quilt- and want to get it done so I can move onto my next project. I have an idea for my next quilt already. I guess that is what keeps me moving on the one I am working on.

hummmmm….. now who will it be for that is the question!?  I like to make a quilt to keep- like my friends quilt- then I make one I will give to someone.

off to start my day.

part of something good

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Well, this is the quilt top that I am putting together now. Part of it at least. I am using fabric from my friends; Robin, Wendy and Colleen and one I picked myself. The goal was for each of us to make a quilt using the fabric from friends- my top is done and I will start to work on a boarder now. How are the rest of you doing? I hope you are at least thinking of what you will do! It has been fun working on this. I think it will make a fabulous travel quilt! Now I can take friends along on my little trips. This is sort of a tricky shot because you can’t see the entire top- yup thats me….tricky!

In other news…. there is none. Life moves along- I am looking forward to going to CT to visit family this week!

Well- back to the sewing machine!
