Christmas morning

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Here it is 6:20 a.m. I have been awake since early-waiting for family to be ready to start the holiday! I remember when my kids were small they would have been up and back to bed holding their santa gifts by now. I am just so thankful to have a house full of family this morning- they could sleep till noon and I wouldn’t mind! I am so glad their drive across country is over and they are safe and sound. It is a wonderful thing to see them again. I am really thankful that we don’t have a bathroom in the downstairs though- or I would never see Jonathan. He has a nice little set up down there and only visits for short breaks. To be honest he as well as the other kids have been so busy. They emptied the moving truck yesterday and will be putting things into places for a few days I suspect. All while working around taking care of the baby. (who is the sweetest little boy in the entire world by the way!) Just a big THANK YOU to Auntie for taking the time to fly to Utah then help them get back here. You are my hero! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and that we can see you again really soon! Now we have the comfy bed in the computer room and you are always welcome! We had a great dinner on Christmas Eve. One which would not have been possible without the help of my good friend Robin. Right when I was getting ready to put the roast beast into the over pufffff….. it shot fire at me and decided it just want to smell like gas instead of burn it. So…. maybe tomorrow it will be out with the old and in with the new. It is hard to trust a gas stove that puffs fire at you. But anyway…the dinner was saved- Erin ran the roast to Robin (after a little side trip to some house we didn’t even know the people and a gust of wind that “stole” the tin foil…” ) it was just all very dramatic. It turned into a late dinner with good friends so that is all that matters. Once Erin realized she was eating with the serving fork we all realized bed time was closing in.
I do wish you all a very merry! I will try to write more often!

The Gate of the Year by Minnie Louise Haskins…..

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year
‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’

And he replied, ‘Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way!’

So I went forth and finding the Hand of God
Trod gladly into the night
He led me towards the hills
And the breaking of day in the lone east.

So heart be still!
What need our human life to know
If God hath comprehension?
In all the dizzy striff of things
Both high and low,
God hideth his intention.

I just love this- and wanted to share it today. Sometimes I read it when I get thinking too much about what the future will be and how I think I can control it.

a list of books…… coming soon

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I finally finished reading The Shack by Wm. Paul Young. It took me forever to read this book- It wasn’t long- I just have been sleeping more than reading this past week or so. I really don’t know if I liked the book or not. Weird I know. Maybe I will read it again sometime- I was hoping someone else would read it and tell me what they think. I also have been reading A Christmas Carol by Dickens. I have never actually read the book- and thought I would give it a try. I like it- it is really enjoyable. I have seen plays and movie versions and so far as I can tell there is much to be appreciated by reading the actual book. The book club I go to was reading it this month- but I am a bit behind – again- because I was sick. I did get a chance to talk to one lady in the group about the book however and it got me going again. I don’t know what they are reading for next month yet. I am working on developing a list of books that I would like to get for my own library. If any of you have a “must have” book on your list let me know. I might add it to mine. Maybe this is a list I will develop on my blog. We shall see….

The return to life…..

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I am alive!!!!!! I have been so sick for the past week. I feel like I went to bed on Thanksgiving and I am waking up today. I hope this feeling of feeling better last longer than an hour. I guess it was “a touch of the flu” as I have been told. The only good news about that is that shouldn’t happen again this season. I still feel like every muscle in my body had it’s own direction it wanted to go in… now just body tired. Tired from resting. Go figure. So- this past week has been pretty boring. Had to call into work- so no interesting work related stories- just except how great everyone there is to cover for me and not make me feel worse than I already did. Jim has been doing house stuff around me- he is also recovering from whatever we had, so not much has really been getting done- it has been so nice to have him around to take care of me. He is good one. I have been looking at pictures of my grandbaby everyday. He is just getting so big! I guess I was under the inFLUence on Sunday cuz I cut a pile of coupons out of the paper. Oh ya… what kind of diapers does camper use? and size? Think I found pampers coupons. Well- guess I will go start my day and see how far I get. Wish me luck! Oh ya… MELISSA blog somemore! I check everyday! love ya girl!
